Great Lakes is a leader in the field of RIM, Reaction Injection Molding. Here you can have anything you like in polyurethane foam or elastomers.

Equipment:

Great Lakes uses all state of the art high pressure impingement mix machines. Our capacity to manufacture is virtually unlimited.

Tooling:

Great Lakes can facilitate the manufacture of tooling for you. CNC cut from billet, cast aluminum or epoxy.

Facility and Location:

Our 72,000 square foot facility has made its home in the community of Concord, MI. This location makes us very accessible by interstates I-94 and I-69 through lower mid Michigan.

If you desire or have been asked to follow the trend toward the use of green materials we are happy to offer you the most highly rated "green" polyurethane products available on the market.

Great Lakes Foam offers more formulations and solutions under one roof than any of its known competition. While we offer as a standard the following urethane systems, custom designed systems to meet special demands are commonly developed.

Products:

• Flex molded (HR):
  • Flex molded parts are typically used as cushioning for seating in automotive, military, off road , marine, agricultural, interior furnishings and the like. This foam can easily be modified to suit your application for hardness and density.

• Integral skin:
  • Integral skin foam can be used for numerous applications where a durable vinyl-like- surface is needed. It is commonly seen on armrests for tractors, office furnishings, roller coaster restraints, steering wheels and dock bumpers to name a few. This foam has a tough thick skin while also having a soft interior. It also can be easily modified for hardness and density to suit your application.

• Visco Elastic (Memory Foam):
  • Visco foam is synonymous with comfort. It has been used in the manufacture of mattresses, pillows, sleep aids, medical supports even pet beds. This slow recovery foam is an exciting product waiting for another unique application.

• Rigid/Structural:
  • Just as the name implies, this product is great for many structural applications. It has been used for fixturing, wood replacement, molded inserts, substraights and speaker housings to name a few. This product is extremely diverse in its uses and often saves customers money in instances where they are paying for a machined rigid component.

• Semi-Rigid:
  • This product is another special formulation that offers unique properties that allow the foam to hold its shape structurally but remains semi-pliable. It is great for packaging or backing for upholstering over shapes.

• High Shear:
  • High shear foam is a special formulation that we have developed for vibratory dampening, sound deadening and protective packaging. It has a very rubbery feel and texture and has successfully been used in motor housings, grenade packaging, gasketing and impact resistance.

• Elastomers:
  • Elastomer is a very general term for a broad selection of solid materials. This material is great for rapid prototyping, dunnage, tooling or production parts, rigid or flexible. Spray on elastomer is also available upon request.

• Die Cutting:
  • This process is a linear cut, "cookie cutter" of any shape and most any material, such as textiles, fabrics, thin plastics or foam slab materials.  Any other unique applications can be considered.

• Custom Die Integration:
  • Great Lakes can facilitate the manufacture of tooling for you. Tooling can be CNC cut from billet steel or cast aluminum.  We have the ability provide cast aluminum or epoxy dies as well.
